Service, leadership, and growth
Scouting:
“A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”
- The Scout Law
Scouting gave me a radical change that I could have never expected of myself. Alongside martial arts, it helped direct me through a patch of life where I was lost and anxious, unknowing of what my future held. As I think back on my days as part of Scouts BSA and Troop 520, I will always remember the moments and the individuals that shaped who I am today.
As I reflect on the journey, what stands out the most shockingly aren't the tough badges I’ve earned or testing outings I’ve endured. Rather it’s the silent moments of growth when my perspective shifted. I entered Scouting like many others: eager to earn ranks, merit badges and achieve, but over time, I realized the heart of the program wasn’t about me at all. It was about service: Stepping up to lead when no one else would and standing up when no one else could. I’ve realized that leadership lies in what you give, not what you have.
As an Eagle Scout, I strive for my actions to reflect the Scout Oath and Law in every step of my life. To me, earning Eagle is not about prestige, but rather a testament to perseverance: proving to myself that dedication, service, and integrity can shape real change. It represents the culmination of years spent growing into someone who doesn’t just complete tasks but continuously finds ways to improve them in ways that resonate with and uplift others. These are the core values that shape me, and the driving force behind my ambition to impact the world. The title is a reminder that meaningful change doesn’t happen overnight, but through consistent effort and service.
“An eagle may fly alone, but no scout earns it alone. It is with others that we forge a path whose footsteps echo across the world.”
