A little about my journey, interests, and making things.
Hi there! My name is Avnish Dighe, and I am a maker. I am a student at Tesla STEM High School which is consistently ranked in top 20 nationally and 1st in WA state public schools. I love to design and build things, whether it's for class projects or personal challenges. Through STEM courses and various projects, I'm constantly working to expand my technical skills and creativity. I've been doing taekwondo since I was 4, earning my 3rd Degree Black Belt in June 2025. I am also a prominent leader in Troop 520, earning Eagle Scout after 5 years.
In my future, I aspire to be a Structural engineer that helps revolutionize the Civil industry by designing creative ways to combat embedded carbon and drawing inspiration from nature's geometry to shape the great structures of tomorrow!
In my spare time I love to teach myself cool new skills. Flying FPV drones, playing chess, solving Rubix Cubes, juggling, modular origami, and cup stacking have been some of my favorites over the years. Aside from that I love working out then eating out. As a food lover, trying new places and revisiting favorites is a great way to spend a Sunday evening.
I picked up (ha) juggling as my backup plan in case this whole school thing didn't work out. I enjoy learning different styles and techniques, but my favorite two have to be 3-ball mills mess and 5-ball normal configuration.
As an RC car enthusiast from the moment my thumbs had enough mobility to hold a joystick, flying drones at 60 miles per hour is an exhilarating feeling. As a multiple time world-record holder through the years of robotics, making split second decisions that could make or break your robot (and in this case, a $400 drone) give that thrill that I can't find elsewhere.
When life feels sideways there's nothing better than sitting back and strumming the chords of my favorite songs. More recently, I've picked up songwriting and even more recently than that I've started to learn electric guitar as well. A 15-minute jam is enough to clear my head, so I look to it in times of need.
Cup Stacking is an old hobby I got into in elementary school, but I still pick up my stack of William Orrell Pro Series 2 cups and give it a go.
Origami has fascinated me since I was a baby. My childhood was spent watching Jeremy Shafer Origami videos and two hours later having nothing close to what he did. As I "graduated" from single sheet projects, I started loving modular origami, making large, intricate 3D structures from hundreds of identical pieces of folded paper. Some of my favorites are scattered here!
My childhood goal was to be able to solve any cube that you handed me. All the money I would get from my birthday would be spent in new cubes, teaching myself to solve them faster and faster.
A few builds that reflect my love for building.
